St Michael
Abbey School

Future success depends on building a strong partnership with shared values. From academic excellence through to pastoral care, our team offer pupils a fulfilling and rewarding learning experience.

Beautiful 22 acre campus

580 students from 40 different nations

Nearly 1% of all students in England who achieve 3 A* at A Level did so at Concord (2023)

Our primary goal is to help our students gain the knowledge and experience required to enter some of the best universities in the UK and beyond. Our pupils finish their studies at St Michael Abbey School having gained a sense of confidence in themselves and a clear idea of how they can contribute to society.

St Michael Abbey has been a prestigious educational facility since it was purpose-built in 1856. First founded as music school for boys, it later became a Spanish school and an important facility in an internationally recognised college group. Today, we are proud to begin a new chapter in the school’s history as an independent establishment, partnered with Sias Education Group.

Today, we welcome students from all educational backgrounds at SMAS. The admissions process identifies appropriate learning pathways to meet and support individual requirements, helping all students achieve their potential.

Our educational philosophy is to combine internationalisation with localisation, preserving the essence of traditional British education while adapting to the trends of globalisation.

Values & Vision

At the heart of our operations is a strong ethos that combines a community focus with the rich British education offered at SMAS, aiming to provide a high-quality private school experience for both international students and those in the local community.

With a vision to refurbish the site ahead of the 2025/26 academic year, we are committed to build on the school’s excellent foundation and heritage rooted in British aristocratic culture, and continue its long history as an outstanding educational establishment.

Location & History

The building itself is steeped in history, originally built in 1856 by an Oxford University Professor. The campus has developed significantly over its 168 year heritage and will soon offer state-of-the-art teaching and sports facilities.

The neighbouring towns of Tenbury Wells and Ludlow offer a picturesque and tranquil setting to allow our pupils to concentrate on their studies. While at the same time, the school is within a short distance of other local cities, such as Birmingham, providing an ideal location for both study and social activities.
