Pastoral Care

Wellbeing is a golden thread that runs through St Michael Abbey School, developing a culture of meaningfulness, purpose and belonging. Through wellbeing lessons, PSHE, meditation and reflection students have many opportunities to connect with themselves, connect with others and to connect with the world around them, learning key tools that can support them for the rest of their lives.

St Michael Abbey School ensures that students can access pastoral and medical support. Through our student services department, students have access to wellbeing leads, school counselling, an on-site nurse and a SEND provision.

Additionally, students can access independent listeners, student voices, student ambassadors and can apply for key roles such as ‘Student Ambassador of Wellbeing’.

At St Michael Abbey School, wellbeing and pastoral care for each student truly sits at the heart of our school. The supportive pastoral ethos, combined with weekly wellbeing assemblies and skills-based sessions, ensures students feel cared for and empowered. The ThoughtBox framework helps guide this work, giving students practical tools to thrive both in and beyond school.

The Wellbeing Hub

Fostering an environment that supports students’ mental health and wellbeing is a top priority.

To help achieve this, St Michael Abbey School has invested in The Wellbeing Hub, a resource developed by experts in child and adolescent mental health and wellbeing. This is offered all parents and guardians free access to this valuable resource.
